About Solstice Havanese
My name is Martha Murray, and I have a confession: I love Havanese. I can’t imagine living without these loving, silly, smart, crazy little dogs in my life.
I’m relatively new to Havanese, but not to dogs. After having larger dogs most of my life, I made the move to a smaller breed. After years of research and watching the breed, I decided Havanese is the breed for me. I got my first, Cruiser, in 2013. I wanted to go back to dog showing (I had shown English Setters back in the 1970s), and Cruiser loved it. He strutted around the showgrounds and ring as though he owned the place! And, despite my own inexperience, he earned his AKC and Canadian Championships and Grand Championships. But dog shows aren’t a lifelong activity for a dog. So we also began training and competing in Agility, Rally, Obedience and FastCAT, and most recently learning Scent Work. And we take long walks. So many walks!
In 2018 we added Jazz to our home. He finished his AKC championship by the age of 10 months, and after hanging out at home for over a year, he returned to the ring and completed his Grand Championship. In the interim he also has earned Rally and Tricks titles and is loving Scent Work.
In 2022 Luna joined us. She is a sweet and very active puppy, keeping her dad, Jazz, her "uncle," Cruiser and me on our toes. She tries everything, and loves life. I can't wait to see how this girl grows up.
My dogs are a central part of my family. They live in my home and sleep in my bedroom with me. Puppies will be raised in an enriched, loving environment. More to come on that topic as we get closer to that time.
I am located near Portland, Oregon, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
I am a member of the Oregon Trail Havanese Club, the Cascade Havanese Club and the Havanese Club of America.
